ConocoPhillips Australia is committed to achieving genuine, positive and sustained relations with  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the communities in which we operate.

We do this through a localised strategy that focuses on integrating Indigenous engagement into our core business functions through cross-functional Indigenous engagement to improve outcomes for Indigenous communities.

With a focus on diversity and inclusion, we aim to:

  • Enhance employment and procurement pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through partnerships.
  • Strengthen cultural competency across the workforce through training and partnerships.
  • Deliver place-based, long-term community initiatives in collaboration with Indigenous stakeholders.

We are committed to supporting Indigenous education and training initiatives, including Buraligim Weiber (A Place of Learning) program, Land and Sea Rangers and Yalari education scholarship program, reinforcing our long-term commitment to meaningful reconciliation and opportunity creation.

Cultural Heritage Protection Program

During the development of the Environment Plan for the Otway Exploration Drilling, we established a Cultural Heritage Protection Program. The program funds a process that supports Indigenous community initiatives to enhance protections for Sea Country and Cultural Heritage values and sensitivities.

Local Training

Each year, we welcome Indigenous trainees to the Australia Pacific LNG facility in Gladstone as part of the Indigenous Maintenance Pathways Traineeship through a local provider Programmed Training Services. This program creates job opportunities within ConocoPhillips or through local partnerships, with a combination of hands-on and practical experiences and classroom lessons.
