Producing Energy

Natural gas is used extensively around the world in homes and industries for cooking, heating, electricity generation, as a vehicle fuel, and for other industrial uses.

ConocoPhillips has been responsibly delivering Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to the world since 1969. In 2006 ConocoPhillips Australia became the second operator of an LNG production facility in Australia when it commenced production at the Darwin LNG Facility*. In 2015 ConocoPhillips Australia commenced LNG production at the Australia Pacific LNG facility on Curtis Island, near Gladstone. ConocoPhillips is a 47.5 percent shareholder in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture and the LNG facility operator.

* On 14 October 2019, ConocoPhillips announced that it had entered into an agreement to sell the subsidiaries that hold its Australia-West and East Timorese assets and operations to Santos. This sale was finalised in 2020.
