Supporting Regional Queensland

As a standalone entity and through our investment in APLNG, we create significant local economic benefits through hundreds of local jobs and more than AU$1.55 billion spent with local businesses between 2018 and 2025.

Investment in Community Programs

We support the Gladstone community and have contributed AU$24 million to local programs between 2011 and 2024.

Local Training Programs

We launched Queensland’s first LNG training program in Gladstone in 2013 and continue to develop skilled local workers through ongoing training and career pathways.

How does ConocoPhillips contribute to the Gladstone community?

ConocoPhillips Australia’s operations on Curtis Island provide substantial economic, community and training benefits for Gladstone locals:

  • As a standalone entity and through our investment in APLNG, we have invested AU$24 million in community programs between 2011 and 2025.
  • In addition, we have contributed over AU$1.55 billion to local Australian businesses through supply chain spend since 2018.
  • In 2024, we employed approximately 300 direct jobs in Gladstone.
  • When establishing the LNG facility on Curtis Island, ConocoPhillips Australia launched a training program to support employment and skills development for locals looking to pursue a career in LNG. We continue to bring in new operations technician apprentices each year from the Gladstone community through our workforce programs.

Across the entire LNG industry, significant contributions have been made to Queensland over the past decade (2014–2024):

  • AU$127 billion contributed to Queensland’s Gross State Product (GSP).
  • AU$51.5 billion in wages for around 60,000 supported Queensland jobs.
  • AU$42.5 billion spent with 3,178 Queensland businesses and 307 community groups.
  • AU$695 million paid to Queensland local Governments.

Local support receives recognition

In 2026, the Buraligim Weiber (Place of Learning) program received the Community and Social Investment Award at the 2026 Australian Energy Producers Excellence Awards, recognised for its impact in supporting First Nations education through culturally grounded STEM learning.
