NT Training Awards 2018

Two trainees at ConocoPhillips’ facilities in Darwin have been nominated for this year’s NT Training Awards!

It’s a celebratory time for two trainees at ConocoPhillips’ facilities in Darwin, as they’ve recently been nominated for the 2018 NT Training Awards!

Kim Brewster, Admin Trainee at Darwin LNG, has been nominated for Trainee of the Year, while Sonny Malmerin, Warehouse Trainee at Darwin Supply Base, is up for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Trainee of the Year. Kim is currently completing her Certificate IV in Business Administration, and Sonny is currently completing his Certificate III in Warehouse Operations.

Kim said her nomination is “such a proud achievement. This award doesn’t just enable us to share our training journey, but also contributes to our professional development and leadership skills. Being able to inspire others and promote that a traineeship can change your life is something I’m honoured to do. ConocoPhillips gave me this opportunity and I anticipate to use it to its full potential.”

Sonny was surprised and excited about his nomination, adding that “being recognised for my accomplishments and hard work is something I’m very proud of and I’m delighted I’ve gone further than I could have anticipated.”

The NT Training Awards are an annual premier event that recognises training excellence and achievements. The awards offer finalists the chance to gain personal satisfaction and access opportunities in their industry, becoming part of an elite group of ambassadors who represent the Territory’s best in vocational education and training.

This is the first time a trainee at ConocoPhillips has been named as a finalist in the awards, so to have two in the running makes it even more special! Winners are announced in September.
