New apprenticeship adventures at Darwin LNG

Three apprentices have made Darwin LNG their oyster over the last few months, after commencing at the start of the year.

Shane Kavanagh, Dakota Browne and Lane Tisdell have undertaken their apprenticeships through Programmed, and each bring different backgrounds and experiences to the job.

Previously an Electrical Instrumentation Trade Assistant, Shane is excited about working with and around some of the most knowledgeable tradespersons in the oil and gas industry. He’s keen to learn all he can in the four years about the logic of electricity and instrumentation, along with other fields of the trade including automation, metering and rotation. Hot tip for success from Shane? Measure twice, cut once.

Dakota recently finished year 12 and is excited to be undertaking an electrical apprenticeship at ConocoPhillips, as it means he’s able to come to work and learn something new each day, while also developing skills. During his apprenticeship, Dakota wants to gather a wide range of knowledge and skills about electrical and instrumentation and implement them into the workplace. Like Shane, Dakota’s hot tip is to measure twice, cut once!

The youngest of the group, Lane is the consummate mechanical fitter who’s hoping to finish his trade and continue working for ConocoPhillips. Lane is keen to learn the ins and outs of Darwin LNG for his own knowledge base, and is excited by the pure size of ConocoPhillips, plus everything else that goes on at the company. Lane finished school last year, undertaking a Certificate III in Agriculture, while also working part time. Hot tip for success? Always humbug and ask questions – shows that you want whatever you’re after.
