ConocoPhillips employees volunteer around 1400 hours in 2018

Over 130 dedicated ConocoPhillips employees, family members and direct hire contractors participated in our Employee Volunteering Grants (EVG) Program last year, contributing around 1,400 volunteering hours to just under 60 organisations they support across WA, Queensland, the Northern Territory, Timor-Leste and Tasmania.

Their efforts earned their chosen not-for-profit organisations almost $30,000 in donations. This included $6,450 in matched donations through the Australia Business Unit East’s Company Matching Gift Program.

Brian Inglis, Training and Competency Lead, Australia East, was one of the many employees who applied for the Company Matching Gift Program. “The launch of the Company Matching Gift Program has allowed me to support a charity close to my heart with not only my donation, but the addition of the company matching donation.

Every dollar can help make such a difference for these charities.” Craig Gibson, Cargo Specialist on the FSO Liberdade, volunteers his time as the President of the Launceston Basketball Association, and used his EVG to fund training equipment for the junior teams.

“The Academy aims to further improve junior skill level and extend the athletes to allow greater enjoyment of the game,” he said.

“Ultimately our Academy athletes are aiming to develop and eventually make their way into our State representative squads. I would like to say thank you to ConocoPhillips for their support of our athletes.”

Across the year a number of WA staff volunteered in the kitchen at Ronald McDonald House in Perth, baking morning tea treats for the guests. The Australia West business unit Leadership Team enjoyed a fun morning there in December, producing some interesting and tasty creations.

Ronald McDonald House Volunteer Coordinator Chriss Marinoni gave her thanks to the leadership team and everyone who had volunteered throughout the year. “The biggest thank you to the ConocoPhillips Australia team from everyone at RMHC WA for coming into our House and cooking for our families.

The food you provided yesterday was fantastic, and whoever did the fruit salad bird is/are very creative!” she said.

The Employee Volunteering Grants program requires individuals to volunteer over 20 hours and teams (minimum of 4 people) to contribute a total of 40 hours within a 12-month period to be eligible for a donation. It has been running successfully since 2014 and recently kicked off for the 2019 calendar year.
