ConocoPhillips’ goal is to participate in and support activities that improve the quality of life for people living in the communities in which the company operates.
Arts and cultural programs stimulate creative thought, promote self-expression and foster new ideas.
By supporting various festivals, awards and the Darwin and West Australian Symphony Orchestras and funding cultural, music and art programs, we participate in a variety of projects that support the arts and celebrate cultural history and diversity.
ConocoPhillips supported three performances at the 2008 Darwin Festival: traditional indigenous dance; the Darwin Chorale singing with two choirs from Dili; and the annual Northern Territory Indigenous Music Awards.
ConocoPhillips is also supporting the Husi Bei Ala Timor Sira Liman (From the Hands of our Ancestors) exhibition arranged by the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and the Direcção Nacional da Cultura of Timor-Leste. To be held in Darwin from November 2008 until July 2009, the exhibition will promote the National Collection of Timor-Leste, preserve cultural heritage and artifacts and encourage sustainable livelihoods through the production of arts and crafts such as textile weavings, ceramics and wood carvings.
